This happened last night. I am at work now - hope someone can answer this before I go home today - because I can't bring the computer up. Here is the message that is on the blue screen. I can't get into windows at all - safe mode or any other.

A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the 1st time you've seen this stop error screen restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps.

Disable or uninstall any anit-virus, disk defrag or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drivers, run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart computer.

Hello lavender01,

Do you have a Win XP recovery cd that came with the system? If so then you can boot to the recovery console and try running the chkdsk command.
