black screen won't go to bios screen

updated bios on my buddy's dell inspirion 8000 then when it went to reboot came back with black screen-no flashing cursor- power light on - hd light acts like it's working- tried to boot from xp disc,same - tried f2 on start up won't go to bios screen - totally loss - please help

Having made a change to the BIOS that results in that kind of result is best corrected by taking the computer to a reputable shop for a BIOS reset.

Often this BIOS reset can be accomplished by removing the CMOS battery, but because this is a laptop, I cannot recommend that you open it up yourself.

Please choose a local shop that lives on its own local reputation, not one of the "Big Box" services.
