not sure if this post is suppose to be here or not.

anyways im having problems trying to play any videos online. jsut started happening about a month and a half ago. i got all the junk removed from my computer(wasnt much there to begin with). you tube videos work fine. i have updated all my players, java, activex and flash player. still no luck.

the main thing i have been trying to watch is prison break on the fox website. i have installed there player and done there test video. they all worked fine.
i also have another computer that will play all videos and have double checked the setting in internet options to make sure they are the same and they are. so now im stumped.
when i try to play videos i get 1 of 2 things happen. most other videos gives me the "internet explorer cannot display the webpage" error, the other is just that the video doesnt play and when i try to close the page or change websites the page lockes up and i have to alt+tab to get it off.

any help here is much appreciated as i have been working on this for a while. thank you.

I'm not forcing you to use Firefox, but I want to know, if you can play those videos, using Firefox.

when i close firefox and then open it again it tells me its still runnnig and i have to close the process down

It takes a few moments for FF process to close down. If you wait 15 sec, it'll do it by itself.

of course. ive installed it and uninstalled it many times as their help section says. it also says most of their files are in divx files, which i have updated and made sure to have all the necesary codecs. ive updated all of my players as well as theirs.

Get CodecInstaller: http://www.jockersof...ecinstaller.php. It'll investigate, if your codecs are OK.

ok ive downloaded it and ran it. it just tells me what i have as far as codecs. they dont tell me if any of them are bad. and it only lets me check whcih codec i need for files that are already on my computer. and since the video that am i am trying to watch is on a website, this program doesnt help me.
unless there is something here i am missing with this program. they have a small tutorial on it which ddint help much either. also i downloaded that program onto the computer that works fine. i compared the codecs to make sure they both had the same ones, they matched.
also now with i try to play the video, it freezes my internet explorer, and when i try to play it on firefox and i close it, it will not reopen(even waiting for 30 min)
one thing i did notice though, i do not have a sun java console in my tools menu. i double checked to see if i had java installed and the java site verified that it is. i uninstalled it and reinstalled it just to be sure with no change as it was before.

this is becoming very aggrivating since my other computer will play these videos with no problems at all and this computer cant even play a stupid video. this should be cut and dry no problems.

I'm sorry, I'm out of options here. Let's hope, someone else will come up with some other advice.
