Hi
I get the following error when trying to open MS Word

Word failed to start correctly last time. Starting Word in safe mode will help you correct or isolate a startup problem in order to successfully start the program. Some fuctionality may be disabled in this mode.
Do you want to start in safe mode?

I click YES

I get
Microsoft Office WOrd has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

then i get

Word failed to launch in safe mode. would you like to start 'Detect and Repair'
I say yes

Please wait while windows configures MS Office Professional Edition 2003

then I ge the error

msiexec.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.sorry for the inconvenience



Any suggestions?

Also I cannot update office or windows for some reason...the icon on the bottom right says there are updates...but it then failes to update
