About a week ago, my Norton antivirus program said that it had prevented some Trojan from being installed. However, my internet connection was broken, and if i tried to open internet explorer it would be redirected to badurl.grandstreetinteractive.com. I ran Adaware and Spybot, and my internet connection was restored, as well as my browser going to the correct homepage. However, I am still getting random irritating popups advertising which are not blocked by my Google toolbar. I have run Spybot a few times, and each time two things keep coming up (even after I have "fixed" them): "DSO Exploit" and "CleverIEHooker.Jeired".

I also should mention that at the bottom of my taskbar is a textfield which says "Search the Web", and has a search button that directs me to a website called Blazefind at "xml.vpptechnologies.com"

Thanks for the quick and clear directions for helping get rid of the spyware on my computer. I ran Hijackthis, rebooted in safe mode and deleted the files you mentioned, then ran spybot and adaware. The popup problem appears to have been solved (hopefully permanently) but there is still an annoying search field and a button that says "search" that appears on the taskbar at the bottom of my screen. As I mentioned in my first post, the button links to a page called Blazefind. Anyways what follows is my Hijackthis log after carrying out your instructions

Thanks for the info about unnecessary programs. I tried to fix that R3 Search hook, but when I scan with Hijackthis it is still there. Is there any way to manually delete this, as it may be the cause of the unnecessary search field on the taskbar.

HijackThis is not able to remove this entry because of the underscore at the end.

Download Registrar Lite from here:

Put it in its own folder. You may want to keep this program. It is an excellent free, registry editor.

Copy and paste the follow text into the address bar, then hit 'Go':
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\URLSearchHooks

In the pane on the right are the values associated with that key.
We want to remove this one -> {CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497}_
Notice the underscore at the end, any others with that _ need to go as well.

Right click on it, and select delete.
If you get a confirmation question, respond OK then close out the program.

That did the trick...but unfortunately after restart the search field in my taskbar remains. It's not that big of a deal, but it would be nice to get rid of it. Is there somewhere in the registry that contains information for what goes on the task bar at the bottom of the screen? I appreciate all the prompt help I've received, thanks a lot.

EDIT: Wow, I didn't realize how simple it was to get rid of the search field. I simply had to right click on the task bar and then select "toolbars" from the menu! It appears that "Search Assistant" was checked and that is why a search field appeared there. I'm not sure if its normal to have that Search Assistant toolbar offered as an option in the first place, but as long as it isn't there anymore, I guess the problem is solved? Or does the fact that the toolbar exists mean that there is still some spyware on my computer?

You can try fixing that line one more time or going into the options and unckecking the load on startup option. The best news though is Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.
