I keep getting the error message when using my external hard drive: H:/ parameter is not accessible. Or when I access the drive, my computer won't respond. The external drive was fine a minute ago.

well shut down and boot without the drive plugged in ( assuming it is usb ) and then plug it in once windows is running..... barring that you would want to go to the manufacturerers website and see if they have a diagnostic utility you can download....
