I have not heard of the benchmark not completing either... !

Please post the make and model of hard drive in your next reply. I'll see if I can find the manufacturer's test, usually they will provide one in the "support" section of the website so you can test the performance of your hard drive. If this test fails, then that is reason enough to return the drive if it's still under warranty.

Cheers

That hard drive is only designed to last 5 years, so you've done well with it!

Component Design Life 5 years

You may need to do the following on a working computer, if yours does not work properly.

Download the Western Digital Diagnostic Tool (choose the .iso file).

Following my instructions located here, burn the .iso file to a CD.

Reboot your computer with the Diagnostic Tool CD in your CD drive. Run the tests and report back with your results.

If the computer boots to Windows per usual, and does not run the Diagnostic Tool, you will need to enter the BIOS and change your Boot Order Priority to ensure the optical drive is before the hard drive.

Cheers

well I wasnt able to run the diagnostic tool b4 the hard drive died. but I put in a new hard drive and now when I go into a game after awile it will just re-start. im thinking it may be a problem with my video card could it be that I have a ATI video card in an SLI motherboard made for nividia video cards?

You can use either an ATI or Nvidia card on an SLI motherboard, however if you have an ATI card, you can only use one.
As far as I can see, having your ATI card on your SLI motherboard is not the problem but maybe the ATI card itself is not working.
