I just removed a virus from my system and my external Memorex DVD burner will not work. It shows in the My computer "DVD burner" but when I put a blank disk in, I get a "drive not accessible" message and the DVD burner now shows CDR burner in my computer. Any suggestions?

Could be the drive doesn't like the brand of media you are using or it could be that the laser is dirty/failing....

Hi tiberio, good day. :)

I think this could be a hardware or driver issues. What burning program that you installed?

Ok try the following steps below:
1. Remove device first and then turn ON your computer.
2. Shutdown your computer and replug the device again,

This should fix your issue. Post back for the result.

Thanks and God bless. :)

SHENGTON, no luck using your suggestion. Here is exactly what happens. When I connect my burner, it shows up as DVD-RW drive. As soon as i put a blank disc in, the icon changes to CD drive. Then when I click on it, a small window appears stating "E is not accessible. Incorrect function."

I am not using any burning programs. I'm just right clicking on the files I want burned and that is it.

Ok try this:
1. Right-Click on E: drive -> Properties -> Recording Tab
2. Check the "Enable CD Recording On This Drive" box.
