Guys, I am a PC guy, that knows less than a MAC user about MAC's but yet I am assigned the task to child proof a MAC tomorrow. I am trying to get the user to drop it off at the office so I can research and execute choices while I am there.

General things he wants to accomplish: monitor or/and stop IChat, can't go to porn, and whatever else.

I really need suggestions, points of reference, something(s). Let me know.

System Preferences -> Parental Controls is generally a good start, if not finish.

There are multiple web filters available online, though most charge a fee since they've got to actively update the list of blocked sites frequently.

i have personally experienced a number of issues with Parental Controls, especially when it comes to the internet (not establishing a connection with https://, not blocking blocked sites, etc), but afaik the iChat blocking is solid. You can also specify the programs which the child can use (so s/he is limited to Microsoft Word and Safari, in my case).

Client has probably come and gone, but I'm still posting here for posterity.
