Okay, So, I'm going to go through all of this step by step so please bear with me and take the time to read and look.

First off I go to start > type in msconfig and hit enter > and msconfig.exe opens..

I have selective checked and well. If i uncheck load startup items will windows load normally, but just not load all the program things i have installed?

Secondly,

What I usually do and this is just me. I would go into the startup menu and disable the iteams that don't need to be started on boot up.

When you install a new program in windows it seems to automatically start up in the background on in the main interface. Now you can disable the GUI if you want too to be able to get about 5 seconds back on start up. If you want to do that I all you have to do is go to the boot and click on "No GUI Boot"

I have selective checked and well. If i uncheck load startup items will windows load normally, but just not load all the program things i have installed?

I believe that if you do that it will shut off the start up programs that are located in your start tab. This will result in something like safe mode.

The graphics user interface (gui) is your desktop.
With out the gui there are no icons, no mouse, no background picture, no shortcuts.....
Why would you want to do that?
Just get some old beater and load DOS on it.

how do i get to the no gui boot?

Go to Boot- No GUI Boot then hit apply. It's going to ask you to restart.. you can either restart or wait till later either way it wont take effect until you restart the computer.

The GUI will dismiss the load up xp boot screen.
