I have tried to set up Internet Options to allow me to have an "inactivity shut off of internet connection" by means of Control Panel>Internet Options>Connections-Settings>Advanced-Disconnect Idle For xxx minutes. I noticed that when I insert a number of minutes, the "Apply" button is shaded and further more by just pressing OK, the connection to the internet does not shut off when the desired amount of time has elapsed. Is this a problem with Windows XP?
