Ok, my problem is:

I have XP SP2 on my computer, it was all working fine. Unfortunately I didnt get round to registering in time, due to lack of internet, so now Im locked out. What Im trying to do now is reformat my hard drive.

Ive set it to boot from CDROM, and it says "press any key to boot from CD" when I start it up, as it should. However when I press any key nothing happens. It just takes me to the XP logon screen as usual.

Another curious phenomenon is that when its starting up, if I press F12 to enter the boot menu, it goes to the menu and then freezes so that I have to power down.

Any help would be very much appreciated.
