all screensavers won't start, DO work from preview

I've tried all the pre-loaded screensaver, starfield, 3D boxes, etc. I've changed the settings in displayproperties, screensaver, settings. The screensavers used to work, but now don't.

What have I done wrong? I am assuming this is an "operator error".

Go to the link below and click on the letter "S" in the top alphabet.
Scroll down to "Screen Saver Troubleshooting" where you'll find several possible solutions.
