Hi Everyone, thanks in advance for looking at this post and helping out.

I'm having the google hijack issue where clicking on a search result takes me to a random ad filled site. Lots of people seem to have had the same problem and the solution involved posting a hijackthis log and removing certain items, so if anyone can help me do the same I shall be very grateful!

I'm posting the hijack this log below, please let me know if I need to upload anything else. Gracias!

Hello Agentred and welcome at Geekstogo,

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Download Old Timer's OTViewIt and save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click OTViewIt.exe to run the program
  • Under File Age: choose 60 Days
  • Now click Run Scan to start the scan
  • The scan will take a minute or so, Do Not run any other programs during the scan
  • When complete, notepad will open two files:
    • OTViewIt.Txt
    • Extras.Txt
  • Please post the contents of both files in your next reply

Hi Thunderbird thanks for your help!

I ran both programs as requested, I've attached the OTViewit.txt and extra.txt files from OTviewit, and I'm pasting below the MBAM log. When MBAM finished, it asked me to restart, which I did, but the hijack problem persists. Please lemme know the next steps, thanks again!

Hello Agentred,

Is your computer connected via a router? And if yes, how many computers are connected to that router?

Please do the following steps in the order they are discribed.

1. Let Hijackthis generate a new log.
2. Run MBAM again, like discribed in my previous post.

After that post both logs.
