I have a friend running Me with (kids).

She booted up and the desktop is kind of gray and the icons are not active so she can't get on line.

Any help?

start > run
msconfig
enter

tell her to check SELECTIVE STARTUP and to uncheck all the boxes beneath it and reboot.

See if she can get online....if she can, have her post a hijackthis log in the malware forum

if she has a windows key on her keyboard.

if it will not work, tap f8 as the computer is counting memory, (once a second) then choose SAFE MODE from the start menu

Ok, now I know how to get around with the keys. So wouldn't it be better to have her do a SYSTEM RESTORE?
I just found out how to get there with the keys.
