My Norton Antivirus just discovered rsysinit.exe, and I wasn't having any luck finding instruction online to remove it myself. I followed all of the processes suggested in the 'before posting file', but I'm concerned I haven't removed all of the infection. About a month ago, my computer was infected with the backdoor.nibu trojan among others, and it seems now that I'm getting trojans on a somewhat regular basis.

Download and run CWShredder from:
http://www.intermute...r_download.html
Use the Fix button.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:
http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe
Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.
From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

CW Shredder found C:\WINNT\GWMDMU.exe, which didn't look familiar to me, so I had the program fix it...

Please download the Killbox.
Then please reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.
Once in Safe Mode, please run Killbox.
Select "Replace on Reboot" and put a checkmark in the "Use dummy" box.
Paste this line as the path of the file to Replace.
C:\WINNT\System32\bsyz.dll

Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..

Let the system reboot.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

Your log is clean, but one thing is bugging me.

Copy the part in bold below into notepad and save it as txtfilter.reg

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\PROTOCOLS\Filter\text/webviewhtml]
"CLSID"="{733AC4CB-F1A4-11d0-B951-00A0C90312E1}"

Doubleclick the file and confirm you want to merge it with the registry.

Doubleclicking on the file after I save it is only opening it back up in notepad. What am I doing wrong?

As far as I can tell my computer is behaving normally....what is your concern?

You did save it as a .reg file and the icon looks like a cube that is being made out of building blocks?

My concern is to get the Filter protocol back the way it was before you were hijacked.
It could cause some unexpected behavior if we don't.
Not sure why HijackThis couldn't fix it.
