Did the notebook ever connect ok? The notebook does come with both the WiFI and RJ45 network connections set to get their addressing automatically, but the WiFi may need a security code to be keyed in before the connection is made. Some notebooks also have power switches for the WiFi antennae, (power saving feature). Make sure that your antennae is on. If it is, it will then report that it has found a WiFi connection and ask if you want to connect. Hope this helps some..
