what free software is the best to destroy my disk information?

Hello every one,
im trying to find the best free software -or the best free method- to destroy all my hard disk information --with out the posibility of recoverying data by any way--, cause I am going to buy a new computer and want to give the used one to my sister. I will be very gratefull to anyone who can help me

Unless your sister is data recovery whiz, simple drive formatting will do.

When you use the word "destroy", Darik's Boot and Nuke comes to mind. I have found DBAN to be very easy to use, and it will completely get rid of everything on the hard drive.
