sound wont work

my speakers worked til today.. my daughters rabbit chewed the cord.. i tried to fix them but there is still no sound.. so i took my headphones and tried those.. and still nothing.. when i gently jiggle the prong where u insert into the computer i hear crackles.. so unless the headphones also got broken.. which i find hard to swallow cuz they worked fine recently.. do u have any suggestion.. thanks
