hey guys/gals
i went through all the steps in the malware sec but nothing was fixed. my right click does not seem to work when i click an icon or on a file. it freezes the pc and give me a doc waston error. i tried to disable the doc but that give me another error along the lines of 0x00005, or something like that. i cant seem to figure out what is happening to my system.

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Important Step
1. Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:
Remote Packet Capture Protocol v.0
When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok and close any open windows. If you don´t find this service listed go ahead with the next steps.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items:
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe
O23 - Service: Remote Packet Capture Protocol v.0 (experimental) (rpcapd) - Unknown owner - %ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.exe" -d -f "%ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.ini (file missing)
Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exeExit Explorer.Reboot as normal.

well the right click does not work on files and on icon. it does work when i open web pages in other windows. every time i try to get the prop of file it stops for about 30 sec. then i have to press ntrl + alt + del to end the task. the over all speed of the pc seems to have droped when i first got this problem. it was a quick boot know it stall for about 20 - 30 sec before anything loads up.

the other thing is that i cannot seem to delete a file with my delete key. the same thing happens, the same error message i get with the right click. before you helped me the error message i got was about dr waston. now no real error message come up only a "non respondsive program" forgot to add, the del work fine when i type something, but not when i want to get rid of something

the problem started two days ago until i googled dr waston and found you guys.
i think that started when i ran registry mechainc, but i dont think that will have to do with anything.

i have tried restoring the keys the machanic took out but nothing. i have also tried system restore but it got me no where.

hope this sheds some light

i repaired xp but no such luck. next i will see if anythiing happens if i rollback the drivers for the mouse

i repaired xp last night. no luck. i also uninstalled the mouse drivers. no luck. i tested it out and i still get the doc waston error when i right click any icon and it freezes when i try to delete any thing with the del but.
