dvd decoder

I have lost the dvd decoder in my xp. I downloaded the free vlc player and can play dvds but my media center and media player will not play dvds. It tells me i have to purchase a compatable decoder. Does anyone know of a free dvd decoder that will work with media player or center?

There are free Codecs available but I don't think they will work with Windows Media Player or Center. You can purchase the Codecs for about $14.95 from Cyberlink.
