Hi,
Is anyone familiar with a virus or worm or whatever that causes a comp to ignore ctrl-alt del or just flash it for a second only. It is affecting my Dell inspiron 8500 with XP home. The desktop res is changed to its largest setting (tiny little icons)everytime I turn it on. It also freezes when I open the my comp folder. Also doesn't like to install spyware programs. Spybot and Ad-aware don't find anything and Zone Alarm refuses to open. I just got this comp fromm my gf's father, who had bought it for his ex. A neighborhood "computer guy" supposedly "cleaned up the weird programs" that she had installed.
The Hijack this log only revealed a "winnie.exe" that seeemed unusual.
Anyone have any ideas, I already used XP's repair function, no changes. I don't care about the data and will install a fresh copy if necessary.
