I'm certain the computer I'm dealing with has been infected, I opened something up and ever since then I've had problems. When I do a Spy Sweeper "sweep" it shows it has virtumonde, trojan-downloader-zlob and trojan-downloader-ruin. As I look around this site and around the web I see all kinds of solutions to get rid of things like this but I cannot get online anymore, Windows says internet explorer has stopped working but my other computers have no issues and I do have an internet connection.

Thanks for any help, this site has been great to me in the past and I do appreciate it. :)

Chris.

Hi Chris, copy those programs you need to a USB Flash drive or burn it on a CD to copy over to this infected computer. We need you to run those scans and post the HijackThis log here when ready.

Ok I ran everything that I could, that computer will not connect to the internet for whatever reason, i was able to do everything except the windows restore. I know its off topic but can you help me with my wireless internet connection? It says Im connected but says a network cable is unplugged and i only have "Local" access. Am I working offline? If so how do i get back to working online? If i need to start a new thread in a different section i understand.

Thanks again.

Chris.

It shouldn't say network cable unplugged if it's a wireless device. That's most likely your regular LAN/wired network connection. Also make sure that the regular network cable connection is disconnected in order to get the wireless working. I suggest opening up a new topic in the correct board after we are done here.

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the order mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{68465F18-3385-4681-8D64-393BB61F70A1}: NameServer = 85.255.114.19;85.255.112.158
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{9D2E9B42-33EE-4C19-999C-6FB7062CA1CA}: NameServer = 85.255.114.19;85.255.112.158
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.19;85.255.112.158
O17 - HKLM\System\CS4\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.19;85.255.112.158

1. Download combofix at http://download.blee...Bs/ComboFix.exe Save it to your Desktop before you run it.
2. Double-click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply.

Note:
Do not click on combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Delete this file (c:\program files\sqkfe.txt) unless you know what it's for.

Run HijackThis again and see if you can still see the following entries:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{68465F18-3385-4681-8D64-393BB61F70A1}: NameServer = 85.255.114.19;85.255.112.158
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{9D2E9B42-33EE-4C19-999C-6FB7062CA1CA}: NameServer = 85.255.114.19;85.255.112.158
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.19;85.255.112.158
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.19;85.255.112.158

If found, fix them again. Run Malwarebytes' one more time and fix anything it found. Post the log here.

Restart the computer and run a new HijackThis scan. Post that new log here.

I deleted the file in program files. The files you wanted me to check for were not in Hijack this. Here is the latest Hijack log after restart below. I am sometimes getting security center warnings from Windows. Says firewall is off, auto updates is on and there is no virus protection currently. Is that okay?

For the security warnings, if you already have a virus protection and firewall software, you may ignore it. You can disable them by clicking on the icon where it shows you this message and then change the options in there. I don't have a Vista station in front of me now, but I think they have similar functions there to uncheck the options to suppress the warnings.

Good job. Your log is clean.

To help prevent future spyware infections, read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If none, go to Start->Run, copy/paste in combofix /u and hit OK to remove it. You should be set to go.
