Windows XP isn't showing all my Hard Drive space or RAM, remedy an

I just built a computer from scratch and everything looks fine in the BIOS, but when i get to Windows and look at it from there is shows only a small portion of what it is supposed to be. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone have a solution so I can get most of what I paid for instead of this.
