I uninstalled IE7, IE6 still won't open. I proceeded to install IE6 Sp1 but it says i have a newer version..it won't allow me to install, my OS is Home XP SP3.

down to just a few options now...
try opening another user account (make it a admin account) and see if it has the same issue

you could try installing IE 8...its in beta and has a few bugs...get it here..
or you can do a repair on xp...lowdown is here..
if you decide to go this route...Download the latest drivers for your hardware first and burn them onto a CD...
downside to the repair is you will have to get ALL the updates for xp installed again
