Red Circle White X problem in Vista

Hi, I am also having this problem with the red circle and white cross in my system tray. I am using Vista.

I was going to use the same walkthroughs as listed but thought they might be different for each computer and did not want to mess up my laptop.

Could someone please help me get rid of this thing? I keep getting warnings of security errors, malware and other nasties.
