hi!
i've been having a problem with my sony dsc-p51 cybershot digital camera. it works fine for taking pictures etc, but i cant upload pictures to my laptop. i have a toshiba equium laptop. it had been working fine, but i connected it last week and nothing happened. when i connect the camera the screen shows the normal setup, it goes blue with usb mode written on it, which is what should happen. but the my laptop does not seem to recognise that i have connected the camera to it. it's a plug and play camera so usually, a menu comes up where when you connect hte camera you can just clikc on view files to look at the pictures, i thought at first there must be a problem with that so i looked in my computer directory but there was nothing, the camera usually comes up as sony memorystick or something along those lines in the E drive. so i thought, okay i'll try re-installing the drivers, so i did that...still nothing! i really don;t know what to do now, so i would really appreciate any help anyone could give me! thanks a lot

unplug camera

start > run
devmgmt.msc
<enter>

scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers, hit the +

select each controller or hub and hit UNINSTALL.

Reboot your computer....Windows should reinstall the driver if the ports/controller are still functional

You didn't drop into bios and disable onboard usb, did you?

you will need to take your camera to someone else's PC...we may be wasting our time with a bad camera.

Has it ever been attached to a different PC?
