hi, i built my own pc in the summer a few months ago. it was working fine until this morning when i switched it on. i only have one user so it automatically goes onto the user without having to click the name. however today i had to click it because it said i needed to activate xp over the phone or the internet, even though it was already activated. anyway i have activated it now but when i switch the pc on, after the xp splash screen, it just shows a blank screen.

i have gone into safe mode and it give me an option of the Administrator and my user. i have tried system restore in both but the same thing happens. i have seen on other sites that it may be the video card drivers and i might have to reinstall them. however on safe mode, i put the cd in but i can't install it.

does anyone know how i can fix this?

i have managed to get it back to step 1 where it asks me to reactivate XP by phone or internet. the problem is its downloaded and i have the patch for XP on the computer but i will have too go back into safe mode to use it - what i did at the start and then the blank screen came up after the xp splash screen. so i don't want to do that, so what should i do now?
