Battery not recognized

hello. I bought a new battery for my ASUS F3m notebook through a website. whenever i put it into my notebook Vista says that it doesn't recognize this new battery.
The signes and codes on the battery and box shows that it is a replacment for this specific type. It also looks exactly the same. I already updated the BIOS. Nothing helps.
Can anyine help?

Long as the laptop is charging and the battery is holding its charge, it shouldn't hurt anything. Is it charging?

No it's not charging. the red light on my notebook is blinking.
