It started about a year ago, but I always ignored it. Now its bugging me. I thought I'd ask if anyone around here knows what this is. Here is a screen shot of the upper left corner of my desktop, see the square?

desktop theme is just a solid gray color. If I change to a full screen image the square still appears over top of it. If I move one of my icons on my desktop into the space where the square is, the square is still on top. I switched monitors and it still appears.

can you drag it out of the corner....
no joy...
have you installed ATI's Catalyst Control Center.
if so... Close the ATI system tray icon.
