This is around 4-5 year old laptop. A day back the laptop's screen went black, the disk kept spinning. I shutdown the system, since then I have not been able to start the laptop.
When I press the power button, the green light (showing disks' activity) blinks, the spinning sound comes for around 10 seconds, and then it shuts down. Regardless of how I start the machine same result!!

Any idea what component might have gotten bad?

Thanks for any help.

Board problem most likely. Write-off if that is the case.
