What's up guys, I first encountered weird things happening with my computer (couldn't open some files, log on to the internet, major lag ect ect) about 4 days ago. Eventually my whole system started to crash so I backed up all my important programs and reinstalled XP. Now every time I reinstall, it reinstalls with the same exact problems (my internet's going out as I type this).

I tried low level formatting my harddrive and it worked, but even after that, the same exact things started happening with my computer. when i put in the xp CD it now hangs at the 39 minute remaining mark (during the setup), waits 10 minutes or so, then starts back up and completes the install...so that leads me to believe that it's a very nasty memory-resident virus.

I can't use Hijack cause it won't even let me install it again, so I'm wondering if this is a serious memory resident virus and if so, how do I get rid of it?

Thanks in advance guys

Hi thegurukid

Lets see if this will finds any hidden Trojan’s http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
This setup contains the free as well as the plus-version of the ewido security suite. After the installation, a free 14-day test version containing all the extensions of the plus-version will be activated. At the end of the test phase, the extensions of the plus version are deactivated and the freeware version can be used unlimited times. The purchased license code of the plus version can be entered at any time.
when first run the program will auto-update, Run ewido now

Please download, install and run this disk cleanup utility called Cleanup version 4.0!
http://downloads.ste...p/CleanUp40.exe
It will get rid of any malware which may be hiding in your temp folders ( a common hiding place). You will also regain a massive amount of disk space. Here is a tutorial which describes its usage:
http://www.bleepingc...tutorial93.html
Check the custom settings to your liking under options, but be sure to delete temporary files and temporary internet files for all user profiles. Also, cleanout the prefetch folder and the recycle bin.
Reboot when prompted to let it clean out the remaining files.

Reboot as normal.

Please run the following free, online virus scans.
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp
Please post the logs From Panda virus scan and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.
