Fine Tuning Audio from Control Panel

I want to adjust the tone of my desktop speakers from the control panel. When I navigate to the area, I find it in gray and I can't make any adjustments. Thank you for your help. Ed Ende

try reinstalling your chipset drivers and audio drivers...you can get them from your computer manufactures website..
or if you have a sound card ..reinstall its drivers...
