Hello. I need help removing the malware/newgenlook stuff that adds weird icons to your desktop. after reading a few threads, i have done the following steps:

* Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

*Save it to your desktop.

* Please run Killbox.exe.

* Select "Delete on Reboot".

* Open the Notepad file where you saved these instructions earlier, and copy all of the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them ALL, then pressing CTRL + C:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\param32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\guninst.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system\guninst.exe

* Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

* Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

After your computer reboots, go into this folder:

C:\WINDOWS\System or C:\Windows\System32 (not sure which folder they will be in on a 98!)

Delete icons you find in there. For example:

casino.ico
date.ico
games.ico
mobile.ico
network.ico
pharm.ico
pharm2.ico
scanner.ico
spam.ico
spyware.ico

Download, install, and run CleanUp!

Then, please run this online virus scan:
ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log.

----------------------

now below i have the results of the activescan and the hijack log. i would appreciate help on the next steps on how to get rid of this stuff. thanks!!
