Hello all.

About a month ago I had some issues with my harddrive and i had to reinstall XP. On reinstalling I couldnt get any sound through to the speakers, and on investigation XP wasnt picking up my motherboards onboard sound card in device manager. What confuses me is that I have also installed and run Ubuntu linux which picks up on the sound card with no trouble and plays sound fine. Unfortunately I need XP for my university work.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers with no effect, and disabling/enabling the soundcard in the BIOS. I dont really know where to go from here and Id appreciate your input.

Thanks for your help.
