Win. 98 freezes on "Compaq" Screen
When I attempt to start up my Windows 98 Compaq Presario desktop, it doesnt progress pass the black screen with "COMPAQ" written in Red across the center. I've attempted to download a bootable CD.iso for Windows 98, but to no avail.

The CD Rom Drive didn't even read / notice that there was something in the CD drive. Please help me out. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I really need to get my computer back up and running. Thanks in advance guys..

change boot order to floppy first

use a win98 startup disk or download one from bootdisk.com

try
scanreg /restore or scanreg /fix

cannot remember if you can run scandisk from floppy drive using win98 startup disk

scandisk /all
