Hello, my computer is about 3 years old and for the past week it could not be turned on for some reason. the only sign of life is that when i plug in the power a green light from the motherboard flicks on but thats it... however the first time i reinserted the power the fan would just go on for about 3 seconds and just die. Could it be my power supply? or my mobo...thanks

More than likely its the power supply. Do you own, or can you borrow a Voltmeter. You need to measure the power supply voltages. I would do this first rather than suspecting the motherboard. If you can't manage to do this kind of troubleshooting, you may have to take it in to a repair shop.
