hello,

I am trying to run combofix but it is giving me an error message telling me to end the avg real time scanner. I do not know how to end the scanner.
I exited out of the system tray, that didnt work. I tried to find a place in the tools of AVG to stop real time scans and all but i didnt see anything (dosnt mean its not there, just i didnt see it) and finally I tried to end the tasks from the task manager and every time i end it it starts back up again.

Can someone help me end AVG just while i run the combofix.

Thanks
Christy

Are you sure what you're doing? Combofix is a very powerful tool, and if you don't know how to use it, you might end up with screwed computer.

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Do not run ComboFix yourself. You can potentially wreck your PC. Read the links Broni provided, and only do the steps there.
