My system has started prompting me for a "disk check" on start up. I've chosen to override it but on the two occasions I have tried to let it run through it takes forever and then seems to get "stuck" on Step 5 - CHECKING FOR FREE SPACE?? I've let the system sit there for 90 mins to see if it will show as more than 0% through searching.

Any ideas whether it should take this long? Or what I can do to shove it along a bit? Is it likely that had I left it a bit longer it would have started showing increasing percentages?

Help its driving me crazy!

I know that step 5 always takes the longest but it usually only takes a few minutes for it to hit at least 1%. How big is your hard drive? If its a larger drive it may take longer, but 90 min seems a bit too long.
