chkdsk stops automatically

Like many people's comp's, when I boot up, Chkdsk automatically starts to check my C: for 'inconsistencies'. However, it never runs, it always stops automatically as if I had pressed any key (but I don't). I've managed to run chkdsk from recovery console (chkdsk /r), but it is still stopping by itself during the boot. I've altered boot.ini (it was like that:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

I deleted "noexecute=optin /" but it was of no use. I also took a look at the registry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager", but it is ok (BootExecute shows "autocheck autochk *" as value. My PC is a new one, this is the 1st time chkdsk tries to run. I'm sure I have no viruses, trojans or whatsoever. This thing is driving me crazy, does any1 have any idea on what the heck is going on?
