Guitar Hero Aerosmith menus gone

well, it all looks good in everything except for career mode. as soon as i choose the profile, all menus are gone, and if i go back, the main title screen is also gone.

this might have something to do with my refresh rate, but i'm not sure.

AMD Athlon X2 5600+ 2.9GHz
4GB OCZ 800 DDR2
500GB HDD
256MB ATI Radeon X1900GT

crt monitor, so refresh is 60hz
