AVG Free...General Error? D:

Okay so i try an update my version of AVG Free and after finding the correct download and trying for fiveish minutes, it finally comes up with a message saying "General Error- Not enough memory, write error."
Is there something wrong with my computer? Do i need more RAM? this computer is new and i have hardly any files on here! Also, am i now at risk to new viruses?
