I have a Dell PC with XP - Evidently no antivirus is on PC just firewall. Last night a pop up called "Security System" came on screen and showed like 35 virus's/trojan/worms and I clicked remove them and then they wanted payment; so I clicked it off - knew it wasn't Windows. Then I noticed a short cut was placed on my desktop with this Security System so I moved that to recycle bin and went to Control Panel/Remove-Add Programs and deleted the program from there. Then I shut the PC down. Today the shortcut is back on the desktop but I did not find it in the Remove-Add Programs. I then went to McAfee to get their 3 month free download of antivirus and after registering they sent an email to Yahoo to confirm. When I went to Yahoo and clicked on the email and before I could click on the confirmation Yahoo and the Internet went down - 3 times I was taken back to the desktop and kicked off Internet. I also tried to search for AVG which is suppose to be free antivirus and when I hit search the PC did the same thing again. I tried these in Explorer and Netscape. I don't usually download anything on the Internet and the last thing I downloaded was a Tax Cut disk from WalMart. I guess luckily I have not e-filed my return yet since it may not be safe to do so - but need to do them soon! I have to leave house at 1:30 Central time but will be back on at 4PM. By the way another thing is my Yahoo email had a message in it that said the account was going to be terminated unless I provided my login and password to them - which I opened and read the email but forwarded it to an actual Yahoo rep to ask if it was Spam, etc. I didn't think it was actually from Yahoo. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Chris

You are not in the right section for malware related issues.

Please check here first. If nothing helps, go to the Malware removal section.
