Msn vs. IE

I have msn premium as my e-mail, they have their own browser/toolbar etc. I dont use them for my internet surfing. I like IE. For the last couple of weeks They seem to be fighting over who gets to open a browser. For instance I click on Google on my desktop...it will take several minutes for something to open...sometimes it's IE sometimes its MSN. Msn getting the nod about 70% of the time. I have Xp with IE7. Are they fighting or is IE not opening for some reason so MSN steps in and opens after a while? I dont know what else to add. Please ask for what ever info you need and I will get it, thanks in advance.
