Using W98se with 1.6ghz, 256m ram.

I am unable to get on line for the moment so this is coming
from a different computer.

All of a sudden, out of nowhere, the computer turns off.

Where do I start looking to solve this problem?

Did you install anything (software or hardware) before this problem? Does it shut off automatically now without even allowing you to go into Windows?

It could be the memory/ram.

Fresh install.
New box, motherboard, ram, hd.
Used internal modem that I can't get to work.
Wrong driver.
Used external modem that also does not work.
Error is: Port already open.
Device Manager show only Com 1.
I think the mouse is using it.
Working on this but not priority.
Stopping W98 from shutting off suddenly is.
W98 boots up fine, runs a while, then unexpectedly quits.
