I have had so many problems with my computer recently, sometimes it goes through phases where I cannot right click in certain scenarios, and sometimes when I cannot right click at all. Like now. When I try to use Alt+Tab it doesn't come up with the option to select a paticular window, it will just run through the seperate windows in order.

Everytime I turn on my PC and it boots, I cannot sign onto MSN Messenger, there is always a problem with it. So I hold down the power button and let it shut down, so when it turns on again Windows will recognise that it didn't shut down properly, and will do some sort of scan. Almost always it comes up with a file that is the wrong size or something of that nature, and it apparently 'fixes' it. So I can use Messenger again.

Windows Media Player, I can't see the menu at the top, and I can't play media files I don't know why.

I have run Adaware and Spybot which have not detected anything overly harmful.

But I ran a Norton Antivirus scan and it came up with two files that it could not delete;

mgrsts.exe
Threat name: Download.Adaware
Action: Adware Found
Status: Delete Failed

and,

MiniBugTransporter.dll
Threat name: Adware.Minibug
Action: Adware Found
Status: Delete Failed.

I cannot download HijackThis as it won't open the window when I click to download it. No pop ups work, I have no pop up blocker.

I tried getting my friend to send it me but I got this message from Messenger;

' tried to send you a file (sdsetup.exe). This file has been blocked because it is potentially unsafe.'

Any help would be greatly appreciated, it seems like Windows is slowly shutting down on me, everything. CPU usage is off the wall, and it's just very, very slow.

Edit: I have now been able to download HijackThis from http://www.download.com. But I don't think HijackThis reports are to be posted in here.

Ok and now I've encountered another problem. I can unzip the file, but when it comes to open it, I double click, nothing happens.

So I close the window, go to Start>My Computer> C:> unzipped and go from there, but the Unzipped folder will not open. I can't open folders now.

Edit So the right click thing has passed, and I can open folders now. The only problem is now when I go to open HijackThis it says I'm out of memory.

Arrgh,

And now the menu has dissapeared from IE.

Hi straylighter

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Lets see if this will finds any hidden Trojan’s http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
This setup contains the free as well as the plus-version of the ewido security suite. After the installation, a free 14-day test version containing all the extensions of the plus-version will be activated. At the end of the test phase, the extensions of the plus version are deactivated and the freeware version can be used unlimited times. The purchased license code of the plus version can be entered at any time.
Ewido will auto-udate tne run a full scan save the log when the scan has finnished.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items:
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: MIME Type Support Dll - {ED045E50-1DD5-4FA1-B468-E624CC585D3A} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mimtcore.dll
Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Please download, install and run this disk cleanup utility called Cleanup version 4.0!

It will get rid of any malware which may be hiding in your temp folders ( a common hiding place). You will also regain a massive amount of disk space. Here is a tutorial which describes its usage:

Check the custom settings to your liking under options, but be sure to delete temporary files and temporary internet files for all user profiles. Also, cleanout the prefetch folder and the recycle bin.
Reboot when prompted to let it clean out the remaining files.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mdtdev.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mimtcore.dll
Exit Explorer.Reboot as normal.

Please run the following free, online virus scans.
