Graphics card driver update problem

Sorry i wasn't sure if this was classed as a software or hardware issue.

I just downloaded an ati graphics card (Radeon HD 3200) update from their site. The installation seemed to go ok, and at the end it said it had completed successfully. But then i checked the date on the card in device manager and it says the version is 8.5, but the driver i downloaded was listed version 9.1, and had a later date.
I don't know what's happened or what to do....
I tried repeating the process, but with the same result.
