Hey there.

To the point, set up a network today with brand new hub, newish XP computer, and a ME pro edition computer with a second hand network card. Everything says that a connection is present but whenever I try to make one computer a host or guest the things never connect.

Pinging the IP adresses works, local area network says there is a connection but both never recieve anything from the other computers. Actually they might revieve 15 or so packets but thats after there have been well over 100 sent.

"Entire Network" in "Network Neighborhood" on our Windows ME computer has only these files,

Computers are 25 feet away but had to use two 25 foot cables (no others available) with the hub in between.

you will need to run the network setup wizard on the XP machine. I'm not sure if ME has that as well...havent messed with that version in a while.
in XP, get into my network places. there should be an option on the left saying set up a home network. run that wizard.
if ME doesnt have that option, see if you can access the other PC after running the wizard on it. ME is a version of W98, which was much less secure file-sharing wise.
you may also want to share certain files and folders on each PC, so that the other can see them.
