Redirected Printers not removed after RDP session has ended

Running Windows Server Terminal 2000 SP4. When a client computer connects, their local printer is detected and they can use it, however when they end the session and reconnect, a new printer is added and there are 2 printers, and so on. After a short while it is causing print problems and I have to go remove the extra printers before printing will work again. Why does this happen? is there a fix?
