OK,

Lets see if this will get it sorted out,

Go to Device Manager Scroll down the list their you will se IEEE 1394 HOST DRVER
Uninstall the drivers for the device when device is uninstalled
Reboot computer and let windows find new device IEEE 1394

If there are still problems then disable the IEEE 1394 then run the update after the updates have been applied reenable the IEEE 1394

Okay, im in the device manager. I do not see exactly what u said to look for, however, i do see IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers is that the same thing. If so then i will uninstall it once i get confirmation from u.

Alright, still isnt working. I uninstalled it and restarted and it still didnt work. I disabled it and it still didnt work. what keeps holding it back is still NIC1394. It keeps telling me that it is open or use by another application. ive gone and disabled it by itself just to see if it would work then but it still isnt working. This is becoming a rather large nusiance. What else can i do?

OK something to try here,

Go to network places > View network connections > on the 1394 connection does it read connected or has it been disabled > Right click on 1394 connection
From the poup box you will see the following:

Disable This does what it say's

Status will tell you if the device is open looking for a connection

Repair this will repair any fault's


Try a repair, then see if you can disable, and see if you can download your updates,
